Muse-ings

Inspired by a book find in January 2009, and as part of a return journey to my soul’s center, I’m creating my list of poems and prose pieces which I think are worth committing to memory.

At this time, I’m simply stuffing them into two general categories: prose and poetry. Other than that, the list is random, open ended, and eventually, evolving.

When possible, I’ll provide links to the works.

Prose:

The Gospel of John, Prologue.

Poetry:

The Duino Elegies, The First Elegy by Rainer Maria Rilke, translated by Stephen Mitchell

First Things First by W. H. Auden (audio read by Auden; text version here)

The Ivy Crown by William Carlos Williams
